Seeing is Believing and CSR play a role in the regeneration of Burnley
Hugh Greenway, Reed Learning MD, visits Burnley with Prince Charles for charity Seeing is Believing.
The Seeing is Believing charitable foundation takes senior business leaders to some of Britain's most deprived areas, to highlight the role business can play in tackling important social issues like underachievement in schools. The objective for business leaders like Hugh is to understand what practical action they can take to help improve disadvantaged communities, and to commit to it.
A Royal Connection
Following a previous Seeing is Believing visit to Burnley in October 2005, HRH the Prince of Wales requested that charities work collaboratively to have a positive impact in the town. Prince Charles last week returned to Burnley, accompanied by Hugh, on a working visit to see the progress the charities have made.
Burnley
As part of the central government initiative “Building Schools for the Future”, Burnley is currently undergoing regeneration which will see all the secondary schools in the area re-built.

Hugh got involved with the charity last year, and was delighted to be invited back on a trip North to Burnley, to see what the charity has already accomplished since work started in 2005.
Seeing is Believing
Administered by Business in the Community - one of the longest established corporate social responsibility (CSR) organisations - these visits focus on issues such as underachievement in schools, unemployment, homelessness and regeneration of disadvantaged communities.
The aim of the programme is to ensure that CSR is recognised as an integral part of successful business behaviour, and remains so with the next generation of business leaders.
Between 12 and 15 visits take place nationally throughout the year with roughly a dozen delegates on each visit. Delegates from all national visits then report back to HRH The Prince of Wales at a seminar at the end of the year.
