Who is it for?
The Certificate in Business Accounting is an entry level qualification designed for finance trainees, school leavers, support staff in a financial environment and non-financial managers. There are no pre-requisites or entry requirements.
What is it about?
The Certificate is a year long professional qualification in business accounting that provides a pathway into the full CIMA qualification, as well as being a stand-alone qualification in its own right. This qualification is designed to bring those with no knowledge of accounting in business up to speed with the fundamentals of business, management and financial accounting, as well as with economics and the ethical side of accountancy.

There are five modules which are run one after another on a rolling basis, so you can start any time of year.
CO1 - Fundamentals of Management Accounting

Cost Determination, Cost Behaviour and Break-even Analysis, Standard Costing, Cost and Accounting Systems, Financial Planning and Control
CO2 - Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
2 Days covering:
Conceptual and Regulatory Framework, Accounting Systems, Control of Accounting Systems, Preparation of Accounts for Single Entities
CO3 - Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
2 Days covering:
Probability, Summarising and Analysing Data, Inter-relationships between variables, Forecasting, Financial Mathematics, Spreadsheets
PLUS - optional basic mathematics module if required
CO4 - Fundamentals of Business Economics
2 Days covering:
The Goals and Decisions of Organisations, The Market System and the Competitive Process, The Financial System, The Macroeconomic Context of Business
CO5 - Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law
2 Days covering:
Ethics and Business, Ethical Conflict, Corporate Governance, Comparison of English Law with Alternative Legal Systems, The Law of Contract, The Law of Employment, Company Administration and Finance
